Hope you can bring it back. We would go there a couple of times a year, or more, when Scott and Deb had the campground. Stopped going soon after it was sold. It definately became scruffy looking in short order. The biggest problem we had was with the water going out without warning and we were not sure it was being treated. There was definately a problem with communications between the owner and the customers. We can’t wait to see it again.

Excuse me I had a chance to speak with health inspector on his way be and he said there was no e-coli in the water. It was a low grade bacteria due to lack of continuous clorine. It was ok to shower in unless you had a lot of open sores on your body or otherwise it ws ok. He just said not to drink it without boiling it. You ive heard on the news lots of times where whole towns are asked to boil water before drinking it. Does that mean the town is trying to kill everybody?

to :the ‘real human being’, instead of spreading your non-stop lies, why don’t you spend yourtime looking for a different campground where you’ll be happy. i’m sure everyone at tumble hill will be overjoyed to see you leave. we all know that the campgound is a great place to camp. only an idiot would stay in such a horrible place as you describe… so are you an idiot?..no just a lousy liar. so go somewhere else and spread your lies… i took the liberty of looking up some campgrounds and their pricing to give you a head start on finding a new place
      tamarack- $875 apr.-oct.
      skybrook-$1500-
      flint creek-$1325
      indian village-$2500 may-sept

NOT A VERY HAPPY CAMPER,WATER CONSTANTLY WENT OFF AND LEFT GREY SILT IN TUBS.TO BE FAIR THE CAMP HOSTS STUI AND HIS WIFE WERE WONDERFUL KEEPING THE SITE NICELY MOWED AND EXPLAINING THE WATER PROBLEM HE WAS HAVING. AND NOT BEING RESOLVED BY THE OWNER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.BUT DID ALL HE COULD TO GET GOOD CLEAN WATER TO US UNLIKE THE SUPPOSED OWNERS.I HAVE SINCE HEARD THAT THE OWNERS HAVE LET THEM GO AFTER WORKING SO HARD BECAUSE THEY TOLD CAMPERS ABOUT THE WATER PROBLEM.OWNER IS STILL TAKING BOOKING AND NOT INFORMING THE PUBLIC/CAMPERS THAT WHEN ARRIVE THERE WILL BE NO WATER.I HAVE NOW SEEN ONLINE AT thecampgroundconnections.com THAT THE SITE IS UP FOR SALE. AND I BELIEVE THAT NO SEASONAL CAMPERS ARE AWARE OF THIS FACT FROM THE CURRENT OWNERS.THE HOSTS MADE SEVERAL IMPROVEMENTS AT THERE EXPENSE, UNAWARE THE OWNER WERE JUST USING THEM TO MAKE THE SITE LOOK BETTER FOR HER OWN GAIN…WE HAD A REAL BAD STORM AND THE OWNER NEVER CAME UP TO CHECK ON THE DAMAGE OR IF ANY OF HER CAMPERS WERE INJURED.SO JUST SHOWS HOW THEY CARE…SO BE WARNED VISIT AT YOUR OWN PERIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I weathered that hail storm and for a few scary moments I thought we were all going to die. Damage was everywhere. Not one time did the owner come to check on us. The water situation is deplorable. It is full of bacteria, as tested from the Steuben county health dept.
You would think the owners would check on their seasonal campers and keep them informed, but nothing. No contact what so ever! You can’t even get her to answer her phone, her door or emails or text messages.
It sure would be nice if the owner would at least give us complimentary bottles of water to at least brush our teeth.
The new maintenance man has a criminal past and should never be in a family environment. She is very well aware of his past and has rehired him anyway.
I would think twice before coming to this place!

I HAVE BEEN A SEASONAL CAMPER AT THIS CAMPGROUND FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND I WOULD NEVER LEAVE!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE AND ITS QUIET WOODS! THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS THE GOSSIPY LYERS WHO RUIN THE PEACEULNESS OF MY ‘HOME AWAY FROM HOME’..I HAVE NEVER HAD “GREY WATER” . THE WATER IS WELL WATER THAT IS TREATED REGULARLY AND THE WATER PRESSURE PROBLEM IS BEING ADDRESSED ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SPEAK TO THE OWNER AND SHE WOULD TELL YOU SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING CARE OF IT…THE “HOST” HAS MADE NO!!IMPROVEMENTS THERE AT HIS OWN EXPENSE AS HE HAS ONLY BEEN THE HOST FOR 2 WEEKS.HE IS OBVIOUSLY A LIAR WHO NEEDS TO LEAVE AND STOP RUINING OUR CAMPGROUNDS REPUTATION!!!I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE OWNER SHE IS ALWAYS UPFRONT WITH ME AND ALWAYS KIND AND FRIENDLY. I HOPE BEYOND HOPE THAT SHE DOES NOT SELL THE CAMPGROUND BECAUSE OF A FEW BAD MANNERED CAMPERS. TUMBLE HILL IS NOT PAYTON PLACE!!SO TO ALL YOU WHO CAMP THERE AND SPREAD GOSSIP AND UNTRUTHS PERHAPS YOU SHOULD LEAVE AND LET THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THE QUIET AND BEAUTY OF THIS PLACE ENJOY IT , BECAuse I AM SICK OF ALL THE RUMORS. I HAVE BEEN ENJOYING THIS CAMPGROUND FOR 20 YEARS, I HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE YOU AND ILL STILL BE HERE ATER YOUVE GONE–SO DONT DISTROY THIS PLACE AS YOU PASS THROUGH!!

If you are NOT the owner, then you would know how to spell the American way and not the British/English way. And if you were a 20 year camper you would know how to spell Peyton Place and other spellings, if you were from America. The NY HEALTH DEPARTMENT CAME IN BECAUSE OF CONTINUING WATER PROBLEMS AT THIS CAMPGROUND and have now found E COLI in the well water. THE OWNER WAS FINED PREVIOUSLY BY THE HEALTH DEPT. So if you are a 20 year camper seems like the owner would have told you about it if she was so upfront with you. And if you were a 20 year camper you would know for certain that the previous Host was there for more that just 2 weeks.

        Dear Happy Camper,
If you have been a seasonal camper for 20 years, then how dare you talk about not ever having a problem. In 2010 , how many seasonal campers pulled out of that campsite because of the present owners ruddiness and cruelty? Did you forget the Health board taking them to court because of “abandoning” the campground during prime camping season??? This information can be looked up at the Steuben county clerks office. You say the owner is always kind and friendly, where was she last week during the hail storm? Why won’t she tell us what is going on?? Why is it that the Steuben County board of health is the ones that give all of us the truth about the water situation?????
You have not been here for what, 2 plus weeks because your outdated camper has no holding tank, but yet, you listen to gossip and untruths about what is going on here. Aren’t you the hypocrite???? You are also the one who acted on second hand gossip and called the owner and told her endless “untruths” that inspired her to send that nasty, “fed up” email to all of us! You were so off the truth but yet you call us gossipers and rumor spreaders. You are the “QUEEN” of Gossip and Troublemaking. Before you send out hypocritical reviews, get your facts straight!! We can back our accusations, you on the other hand look foolish!! How does it feel to have “egg” on your face!!!
And by the way…… Your end of season party………..wouldn’t miss it!!!!!!

There is a bigger elephant in the room which no one has touched on.
Do you people realize who is back at Tumblehill Campground working as maintenance? Does anyone even know the criminal history this man has??
PLEASE!!!! go to the Livingston County Courthouse and go to public records dept. and read about his criminal history.
All I am going to say is this man is dangerous and every childs’ welfare is going to be endangered while he is here. You don’t have to believe me, read it for yourself.

Also if you look around the camp you will see beauty. Quiet and serene. Lots of space per campsite. No set time to check in or out is set in stone. You are allowed to have company. There nice trails to walk with benches to sit on along the way. Theres a rec. Rm. to use with no cost. Appliances to use. Dishes to cook in. Lots of toys for children to play with a play ground much like children have been playing on for generations. Dirt, grass, mulch. A sand box with real sand. A Lg. shuffleboard for adults & lots of roads to walk on by all the campers and say hi and enjoy the children playing and the fire pits going. Families just enjoying themselves. There is a Laundry Rm $1to wash $1to dry. Thats pretty cheap.Nice restrooms. Very sanitary. Sereously have you ever camped in the woods with water, toilets, Electric and then television. Tell me now how can you complain. This is a campground NOT A HOTEL. So theres been a water problem. You could have that at home. Oh someone got fired and you liked them real well so that’s a reason to make bad reviews on internet and maybe run someone out of bussiness. Deprive other families of enjoying themselves all because you dont like something. Or maybe someone might play their music too loud or dogs bark too much or children play to loud. Why are you here if you want city life where everything is run in such a diplomatic way. Why are you here! Gosh those folks who camp in tents dont have water . They seem to have a great time. Whats wrong with this picture. Honestly I hope anyone reading the above reviews ignore them. There is so much freedom and beauty to enjoy here it would be a shame for you to miss it. Come see for yourself.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe the owner didnt have an answer on your demand. We are humans not robots. Sorry to inform you the owner did tell people there was a water problem gave each a sheet of paper and offered a discount if they still wanted to stay. It was the maintenance crew that told people the water was ok. And as for the criminal that worked here. Yes he was in jail. However he worked here for a long time before you recognized him. No one was ever bothered here and he was liked a whole lot by most campers especially seasonals. He served his time and he is now allowed to live his life. He was very dependable, polite. God forbid you ever do any thing that gets you in jail for any reason.

2012 season….. A rocky season…. Two large groups, different weekends, disrespected the quite time of 11:00 PM.
I, and others, complained to the owner since she was not around either time, and was assured that she had learned her lesson regarding large groups.
The campground had a great “host / maintenance” person, but the job was overwhelming for one person who was not paid.
On the BAD side….Several campers were vandalized after the campground was closed. including ours..
A first in all the years of being there..

2013 season…..The same “maintenance” person has returned this season, but not as host….
Still looking forward to this season and what it might bring…

When that owner sell, most or all of the campers will return. Debra cannot afford to stay open with such a few number of campers. It was and should be full every weekend. patronize this campground when there are so many nice ones in the area. Wake up somebody.

With an attitude like that, I am glad that you will not be camping at Tumble Hill.
“A peaceful haven in the woods” is what Tumble Hill is about…
The Host and Hostess are great people, doing what ever is needed to be done to one’s
stay enjoyable, even though the Owner has been gone for over EIGHT WEEKS (so far)..

Oh my, are we playing the children’s game of Gossip? Truth is 8 perms moved out not 12! Some of them needed to go. None of the previous problems of last year exist. True there are no hay rides. We had a nice perm dinner and social event in July. There are now campground hosts who do a very good job of tending to the showers, restrooms, and grounds. As well as being a nice friendly couple. The sites are like none on other campgounds, spacious, shaded just right, quiet, rolling hills, great views of the countryside. It is close to Naples and the wine country and Rt.390, swimming pool about 1 mile down the road, hiking trails, there is a small playground for children and a rec hall with toys. Rec hall available to campers who need more space. If you want a get-a-way try it. A Happy Camper rating 8/10

Can’t believe this campground is any better than last year. I do not think that some of the seasonals needed to go. I had been there for 8 years and no longer wanted to go to a nasty campground, unsafe with water, also NYSEG was going to turn off electricy. I am so glad that we left, I did not feel safe there anymore or leaving my camper there when we were not there. She treated all the campers unfairly. I just hope she loses this campground. The word is out and it is not nice. We were ao lucky to find a wonderful campground where the sites are beautiful and the owners are fantastic people. We are having a wonderful time with all the campers and it is well worth the seasonal fee which is less than tumblehill the way it is now.

If you must be a “trailer park camper complete with room service”…
The camp ground is alot better this year, thanks to several of us who stayed
        and the Host and Hostess..

Fist off I need to say the information about this campground is WAY out of date! Don’t expect to stay here for $20 to $30! Seasonal rates were raised by more than $500 and weekend rates were raised so much that the weekenders will not return.

Ten of sixteen seasonal campers left this campground at the end of the 2010 season. The new owner didn’t even bother to contact them at any time during the season and only spoke to them when they could catch her (she was RARELY there). The remaining rental unit was not maintained by the new owner but she has chosen to increase the rent so much that you could stay at a hotel in the surrounding area for less.

I don’t expect this campground will be around much longer as most people will not return while it is owned by this person. Maybe it is acceptable to treat people like this in Great Britian, but in the USA people expect to be treated with respect and have their basic needs met.

I have to agree with the other comments. Until these people bought the campground last winter, it was one of the nicesst around. However, these people have ignored everything. Not around to take care of things and act as if they don’t care. Would not recomend that you go there.

Tumblehill does not have the same homey feel it had in 2009.
The bathrooms have been found without toilet paper and paper towels. The showers look clean but… the floors don’t look like they were cleaned all summer. Found toilets dirty.
No activites for this camping season and no hiking due to unmowed hiking trails.
Had to have one of the seasonal campers mow our site 2 different times camping this past summer.
I am very sadden that this kind of uncaring has gone on. We will not be returning to Tumblehill in the future under the current mangement.

totally agree with you. THIS CAMPGROUND IS A DISASTER. SHE IS A VERY MISERALBLE SO CALLED LADY. WHY DOESN’T SHE RETURN TO GREAT BRITIAN. PEOPLE ARE TREATED ALOT DIFFERENT IN THIS COUNTRY. I SURE HOPE SHE LOSES EVERYTHING WITH THIS CAMPGROUND. SHE DOES NOT DESERVE ANY BETTER. THE WORD TRAVELS VERY FAST REGARDING A BAD CAMPGROUND AND IT IS HARD TO CHANGE PEOPLES MIND ONCE THEY READ ALL OF THESE THINGS. THE RENTAL TRAILERS ARE A DISGRACE. A CHAIR IS HOLDING UP THE BROKEN AWING. LOOKS WONDERFUL.

Tumble Hill has gone way downhill since a new owner took over. It has become dull and feels abandoned.

All activities have been canceled; there is absolutely nothing to do there. The Health Dept. posted a boil water advisory and the local utility company left a disconnect notice! The public areas of the campground are not mown and, tragically, neither are the hiking trails that were once a draw for hikers! The dumpster was overflowing!

The two rental campers are not taken care of; weeds are growing into and under the windows and the awnings are both broken. One has been rolled up you can jbarely get the door open and the other has been “staked” up so it’s out BUT there is a large hole in it and one side is torn.

Don’t waste your money or time!
