My wife is a traveling nurse and I am a retired law enforcement officer. We pulled into Susanville RV Park in mid March 2011 for what was going to be a 3-6 month stay as a friend of ours who had stayed here about 2 years ago recommended it during her stint at the local hospital. About a week after we “moved in” a recent parolee from one of Susanville’s two maximum security prisons was moved in next to us. His RV was a 1970’s large van conversion with humor plaque on the sleeper that said “trailer trash blvd.” On two separate occasions his parole officer came trying to locate him. My wife and I started going for walks in the evening around the park. At several different locations we heard tied up/locked up dogs barking out of control from their various rigs and campsites. We also noticed several other questionable rigs in the park. During checkin the manger was friendly enough, but was loud and had a very offensive cigarette odor that permeated the entire office. When I spoke with my friend about the parks condition she was shocked. She stated that when she stayed at the park that there was over 20 correctional officers as well as some highway patrol and local police officers staying in the park. I told her that I met one of the officers after he got off work and he confirmed that a few years ago there were a lot of cops in the park, but they had moved out steadily (he said about 5 are left) due to the parks clientele and maintenance degradation over the last two years and that they no longer felt safe leaving their property unattended during their 12-16 hour shifts. Needless to say we moved out the moment we found a rental. We will never return to this RV park and will recommend that no one else does either.

I have lived in this park for almost 3 years. I stay here because I feel save here. The owners have hired only caring Managers of High Standers. Like any place that rents there are people with aggressive behavior that do not believe they are doing any thing wrong and have been asked to leave. This is a top quality park and the Owner and Manages strive to keep it that way.
