One Response to Summer House Park

One of the worst campgrounds we have ever stayed at!! Would not go there again and would not recommend it to anyone!!! For a place that has so many rules, they are not followed particularly by those in the seasonal sites who would be very familiar with the rules but even for those who aren’t, the rules are not enforced by the staff. 1) No outside radios?? We heard music blaring from certain sites during our entire stay; even from one of the cabins close by the main office where staff walked by constantly, there was music coming from someone’s vehicle with the trunk open so the music could be heard. 2) Children must be supervised by an adult in washrooms/showers?? How would you like to be awakened at 8:30 am to loud unsupervised children playing by the bathrooms/showers filling up their water guns and having water gun fights??? There was nothing but kids all over the place without adult supervision making all kinds of noise, even during dusk when there is supposed to be “no bicycle riding”, riding around on their bikes, with noise makers on their tires and on top of it all with flash lights that their parents had given them so the adults could sit around together telling dirty jokes/stories while the kids rode around shouting and making all kinds of noise. Has it occurred to some people that some of us who don’t have kids don’t want to listen or have to put up to other peoples kids. So much for getting away for some peace and quiet, listen to wild life, the sound of the waves etc.!!! Which brings me to number 3) Waves/beach?? What beach??? There are kids’ sand boxes in playgrounds bigger than the beach this place has!!! On top of that there’s foam coming to shore!!!!!! YUK!!!!! 4) No dogs unleashed at any time?? Watch out if you are walking around the park, cause you may pass by a site that a dog is “NOT” leashed and it will come running at you, jump on you and nip/bite you, which is what happened to us!!!! Talk about dogs, watch where you step because it seems that allot of people with dogs, particularly the same individuals we witnessed, don’t pick up after their dogs. Maybe garbage bins placed throughout the park would help this issue. 5) Use garbage bins provided?? Kind of hard to throw away garbage when the only bins provided are at the front of the park and every single bin is full/out of service.
