Great review! You actually touched some valuable news in this post. I came across it by using Yahoo and I’ve got to admit that I already subscribed to the site, it’s very great :)

We spent a glorious 4 days at Evangeline Family Campground in August as we have been avid campers to this area since 1985.
On the day of departure, we had the misfortune of hitting a branch stump too high to notice when exiting our camping area. The incident was reported to the staff however told if we needed any help to let them know. If it had not been for the permanent campers, we may still be there.
It took approximately 3 hours to free our new Jayco 2 with amazing supportive, compassionate and endless effort from these wonderful people.
Unfortunately, we sustained over $15,000 in damage to our unit with the possiblity that it will be written off. We only used it 3 times this year after purchasing new in September 2010 and are devastated at the owner’s response in “what did you want us to do about it?” A little compassion and sincerity would have made us feel a little better especially learning there is no insurance for such mishaps.
Needless to say, a phone call to the owner resulted in very poor business ethics as we did not choose the site – he did. They assisted in putting us in a vacant permanent site where exiting was obviously a disaster for not just us, but at least two others before us who hit..yup – the same tree! The branch was severed but not to the trunk as it should have been leaving a 6-8 inch stump protruding over the roadway.
We will not return to this campground again…so, if you do..look up…way up..there just may be a stump with your name on it. Consider yourself – informed.

Oh, we were there to relax as my husband who had a heart attack in 2002, followed by a quadruple by-pass had just had an ablation successfully done on July 5, 2011 and we needed a well deserved rest. Any question?

This was our first visit and although we found the sites small (we are used to the large sites at provincial campgrounds), we were lucky to have great neighbors. The showers were only $1.00 and the facilities were clean. The people working there, despite having a very busy weekend, (the park was full) were always helpful and friendly. We didn’t have children with us but all the kids seemed to enjoy the playground and had fun. The tides are amazing to watch, there is so much to see and do within a few miles making the location ideal. Most of the park is seasonal, guessing that only 30-35 sites of 200 are not. The playground/pool are in G loop, B loop is closer to the beach. Overflow sites are unserviced in the field and would be ok if you like the sun, no trees out there. Overall, a good weekend and we may return in the future.

I have camped here numerous times as a weekend camper only to get a very rude Darla on the front desk, I have recommended a customer service course to the owner, only to be told ” but she has been with us for 10 Years” we have had ongoing trouble with the power, very weak voltage, cutting out when A/C comes on and yet the price keeps going up and services keeps going down. Very little for children to do at this campground, play area very dated. Would not recommend this campground to a tourist or weekend camper sites are very small and who needs the poor reception you receive.

Visiting campground while registry the lady at desk was very rude and outspoken. While there we used the washrooms there only to find they were very dirty and cobwebs from hell. Rating this campground would not be one that we as a family would go again. I hope this sends a message to anyone that would visit this campground

I don’t know who you got at the front desk but if you’re nice to them, they will be nice to you. Also, I know for a fact the bathrooms aren’t like that, I’m seasonal there and the woman that cleans is always cleaning them.

I agree…we love going to this campground. No one has ever been rude to us, and the bathrooms were very clean. We have 4 children that we bring, and they have been very accommodating and helpful. I would suggest trying the campground again…..I think you will change your mind….

        • 2 sides to a story on September 29, 2011 at 4:14 pm

there are always 2 sides to every review, while no one is perfect when all the details of a visit are explained things can be somewhat different than expressed here, try placing yourself in the position of the lady you seem to dislike maybe she is just doing the job as she has been requested to do, people who have a positive experience may not feel the need to write a review and only the negative is discussed , how would you feel if this was your job or business

did the lady you so rudely singled out control the power, ac and outdated playground ? maybe should should direct your complaints to owners and guessing from your review you may not have been a pleasant person to deal with thus the rudeness, just a thought, and have you visited campground again ? If so perhaps you were hasty in reviewing it poorly ?And just a thought naming someone you only had indirect contact with is offensive it seems personal perhaps you could have spoken to her directly to voice your concerns.
