Highview Campground covers over 92 acres of woods and fields, so "alone time" is no problem. And, when you're ready to do some socializing, take your pick from team sports, tournaments, special theme dinners, bingo, pitch, or chatting around the swimming pool.

Highview Campground is a family-oriented campground with activities and events for all ages. The playground, swimming pool, petting zoo and duck pond are favorites for the younger set. Biking, hiking, basketball, volleyball and softball games keep the highly active youngsters engaged. The game room, dances, special theme dinners and special activities each month provide opportunities to meet new friends and hang with old acquaintances. Moms love Highview because it's clean, safe, and fun.  She'll enjoy the dinners, activities, and make new friends.  And Dad will love Highview because we're close to dozens of golf courses, the Quabbin Reservoir, Mass Wildlife Fish Hatchery, the Basketball Hall of Fame, and more.  .. or he can spend some time pitching horseshoes, or just relaxing by the campfire!

Recreation near Highview Campground

  • The Salem Cross Inn is a Colonial restaurant situated on 600 acres of rolling meadows and woodlands in Central Massachusetts. The original building was constructed by a grandson of Peregrine White, the first male child born on the Mayflower in 1620. The entire facility is one of the finest examples of Colonial restoration in the United States, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Fishing: Rainbow, brown, brook and tiger trout are raised for stocking rivers, streams, lakes and ponds throughout the Commonwealth.  Wildlife recreation information, from hunting and fishing, to wildlife viewing, launching boats or taking a hike can be found on the website as well.
  • Rock House Reservation: A massive, cave-like rock shelter, exposed after the glacial retreat 10,000 years ago, served as a winter camp for Native Americans. By mid 1800's, it was part of a farm owned by William Adams whose descendant, F. A. Carter, dammed a small stream to create Carter Pond and built the cottage now serving as a trailside museum and nature center. Open year round, daily, sunrise to sunset. Admission is free to all.
  • Ware-Hardwick (Giberville) Covered Bridge: 1886 Covered Bridge 137' 6" long. The bridge, on the Ware-Hardwick town line, features metal reinforcements and a sharp, three-toned color scheme; portsides stained red and white while the longsides are left a natural color.
  • Hollow Brook Farms: Come bring your blankets, cuddle and take a breathtaking sleigh ride through the meadows, across an old covered bridge spanning a beautiful pond, through woodlands, and a Christmas tree plantation. Afterwards, come out of the cold and warm up as you browse our unique craft store with a complementary cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Reservations for groups - walk-ins welcome, weekends, weather permitting. Adults $7.00*, Children Under 12 $5.00*.
  • The Quabbin Visitor Center is located on the first floor of the MDC Quabbin Administration Building in Belchertown and is open seven days a week on a year-round basis. With the exception of the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years holidays, and the weekend between Christmas and New Years when the Center is closed, normal Visitor Center hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Center features exhibits, brochures, books, and videos about Quabbin management and history. Maps, books, trail guides and related materials are available for purchase through Visitor Center staff. Vital Records for the disincorporated towns of Dana, Enfield, Greenwich and Prescott are available on microfiche for genealogical research, please call ahead to schedule an appointment.
